Electric car owners are on the rise in Bellevue with options ranging from the ubergreen Nissan Leaf to the swanky Tesla Roadster. To respond to the increasing demand, The Bellevue Collection just installed 15 charging stations so shoppers can recharge their electric cars while they shop.
According to this article from BellevuePatch, local workplaces that have installed charging stations, or plan to, include Microsoft, Nintendo and Puget Sound Energy. In all, nearly 100 public charging stations have been installed so far in Washington and Oregon.
Of course, most electric car owners will plan on recharging their cars at home each night rather than while they are out shopping. Lucky for new buyers at One Main Street Condominiums, the controlled-access parking garage offers homeowners with electric cars the ability to plug in and recharge while they sleep. Ask Trisha Quigley for details when you visit the site, open Saturday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 10000 Main Street, Bellevue.

Who Says There's No Free Lunch?
For the next two weeks, you have a chance to win a free lunch during the Downtown Bellevue Howie Hunt, sponsored by the Downtown Bellevue Network, John Howie Steak and Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar.
It's a scavenger hunt of sorts, with clues leading to stuffed cows and stars which can be redeemed for meals at the John Howie restaurants. Find a cow, get a free lunch of Steak Frites at John Howie Steaks (a $16 value). Find a star, get a gourmet lunch at Seastar with Applewood Grilled Pacific Northwest Red King Salmon, lemon, vermouth and butter with roasted fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus (an $18 value).
Four cows and stars will be hidden on March 3, 8, 9 and 10. Sign up to get clues and start planning your free lunch date. (Plus you'll be signing up for regular newsletter e-mails from the Downtown Bellevue Network and we can vouch that they always share the latest, greatest scoop.)

More New Openings for Downtown Bellevue
Three more new businesses will be opening shop in Bellevue in the coming weeks - a piano bar, a comfort food joint and a self-proclaimed "gastro tavern," according to www.DowntownBellevue.com. In our books, this is three more great reasons to live in Downtown Bellevue -- and all three of these new establishments are within a few car-free minutes of One Main Street condominiums.
Piano Bash and Munchbar, concepts of a Las Vegas group, will open side-by-side in Lincoln Square on January 27th. Piano Bash is a dueling piano bar with nightly entertainment including piano-accompanied karaoke. The Munchbar website appears to be down, but here's a link to a Gayot review of their recently opened location in Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. (Artisanal grilled cheese sandwiches sound like a great new addition to the Downtown Bellevue scene.)
Black Bottle, with one location in Belltown, will open their second location in the Avalon Towers Bellevue in February. The Belltown location features small plates, an extensive wine list, beer cocktails, and late night dining. They'll announce more details of their new Bellevue location, to be called Black Bottle Postern, as they get closer to opening.
