Talk of the Town: Cantinetta opening this weekend on Bellevue's Main Street

The hottest talk around Bellevue is the opening of Cantinetta, the second location for this Wallingford neighborhood darling. They are having their VIP/soft openings this week, and we hear that they will be opening for dinner this weekend.

Cantinetta is taking over the former location of Villa Fine Kitchen and Bath, just a few doors east of Gilbert's and One Main Street Condominiums.



The Website is live at http://www.cantinettabellevue.com/, but they haven't posted any menus or more information quite yet. Sources like Seattle Magazine and The Seattle Times say to expect a very similar menu and style as the Wallingford location, with traditional Italian cuisine in a cozy 50-seat rustic setting.

Seattle Magazine also says, "Chef Tomer Shneor will lead the kitchen; he's fresh off of stints at Felidia (Lidia Bastianich's famed Italian eatery in NYC) and at Daniel Boulud's restaurants."  Being a big fan of "Lidia's Italy" on PBS, the idea of having one of her former chefs as the head chef at Cantinetta just makes it sound more "delicious," as Lidia would say. If anyone gives it a try, let us know what you think!

Happening this Saturday: Taste of Main

The 2nd annual Taste of Main, benefitting the Children's Response Network, will take over Main Street in Downtown Bellevue this Saturday, August 21st from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Your $30 passport, available at the event, gets you samples of appetizers, entrees and desserts plus wine tastings. There's also live music and activities. Participating Main Street businesses include Bis on Main, the 520 Bar and Grill, Gilbert's, Monsoon East, The Spot on Main, Amore Chocolates and La Ree Boutique.
